NASB:
I sought Your favor with all my heart; Be gracious to me according to Your word.
KJV:
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
NASB:
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
KJV:
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
NASB:
Many will seek the favor of a generous man, And every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.
KJV:
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
NASB:
"They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink."
KJV:
There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
NASB:
There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: riches being hoarded by their owner to his hurt.
KJV:
And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
NASB:
This also is a grievous evil-- exactly as a man is born, thus will he die. So what is the advantage to him who toils for the wind?
KJV:
Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
NASB:
"Sustain me with raisin cakes, Refresh me with apples, Because I am lovesick.
