Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

"A wicked thing is poured out upon him, That when he lies down, he will not rise up again."

Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth.

He chooses our inheritance for us, The glory of Jacob whom He loves. Selah.

We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

We who had sweet fellowship together Walked in the house of God in the throng.

God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

God will hear and answer them-- Even the one who sits enthroned from of old-- Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

So that it does not hear the voice of charmers, Or a skillful caster of spells.

Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword. They aimed bitter speech as their arrow,

Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
