KJV: He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.
NASB: "In a time of tranquility he will enter the richest parts of the realm, and he will accomplish what his fathers never did, nor his ancestors; he will distribute plunder, booty and possessions among them, and he will devise his schemes against strongholds, but only for a time.
KJV: Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
NASB: Therefore a tumult will arise among your people, And all your fortresses will be destroyed, As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle, When mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
KJV: That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
NASB: It is He who flashes forth with destruction upon the strong, So that destruction comes upon the fortress.
KJV: And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
NASB: "I will also cut off the cities of your land And tear down all your fortifications.
KJV: All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
NASB: All your fortifications are fig trees with ripe fruit-- When shaken, they fall into the eater's mouth.
KJV: Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
NASB: Draw for yourself water for the siege! Strengthen your fortifications! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Take hold of the brick mold!
KJV: And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
NASB: "They mock at kings And rulers are a laughing matter to them. They laugh at every fortress And heap up rubble to capture it.
