For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
NASB:
"For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion, 'How are we ruined! We are put to great shame, For we have left the land, Because they have cast down our dwellings.'"
KJV:
If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
NASB:
"If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out, Then how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of peace, How will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
KJV:
And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
NASB:
And they asked Baruch, saying, "Tell us, please, how did you write all these words? Was it at his dictation?"
KJV:
How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
NASB:
"How can it be quiet, When the LORD has given it an order? Against Ashkelon and against the seacoast-- There He has assigned it."
KJV:
How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
NASB:
"How can you say, 'We are mighty warriors, And men valiant for battle '?
KJV:
They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.
NASB:
"How shattered it is! How they have wailed! How Moab has turned his back-- he is ashamed! So Moab will become a laughingstock and an object of terror to all around him."
