From a derivative of cheo (to pour; akin to the base of chasma through the idea of a channel), meaning a storm (as pouring rain); by implication, the rainy season, i.e. Winter -- tempest, foul weather, winter.
KJV: And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
NASB: "And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?
KJV: But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
