"Then the LORD spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but you saw no form-- only a voice.

When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

"When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.

Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?

"Has any people heard the voice of God speaking from the midst of the fire, as you have heard it, and survived?

Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
NASB:
"Out of the heavens He let you hear His voice to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire.

"And when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.
