For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
NASB:
for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; but he used to enjoy listening to him.
KJV:
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
NASB:
While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing;
KJV:
Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
NASB:
The disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know of which one He was speaking.
KJV:
And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
NASB:
"Being at a loss how to investigate such matters, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there stand trial on these matters.
KJV:
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
NASB:
we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;
KJV:
I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
NASB:
but I could wish to be present with you now and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
