1
And
they came
to the
other side
of the sea, to the
region
of the
Gerasenes.
2
And of Him
having gone forth
out of the
boat,
immediately out of the
tombs
a man
with
an unclean
spirit
met Him,
3
who
had
the
dwell
in
g
in
the
tombs.
And
no longer
was anyone
able
to b
in
d
him,
not even
with cha
in
s,
4
because
he
often
had been bound
with
shackles
and
chains
, and the
chains
had been torn in two
by him, and the
shackles
had been shattered, and
no one
was able
to subdue
him.
5
And
constantly
all
night
and
day
in
the
tombs
and
in
the
mounta
in
s,
he was
cry
in
g out
and
cutt
in
g
himself
with stones.
6
And
having seen
Jesus
from afar,
he ran
and
fell on his knees
before Him.
7
And
having cried
in a loud voice,
he said,
What to me and to You, Jesus,
Son
of
the Most High
God?
I adjure
You by God, do not
torment
me.
8
For
He was saying
to him, You come forth out of the
man
, unclean spirit!
9
And
He was asking
him, What
is
your name? And he answered
saying,
My
name
is
Legion,
because we are many.
10
And
he begged
Him
numerous times
that
He would not send
them out of the
country.
11
Now
there
was
a great
herd
of pigs
there
near the mountain,
feeding.
12
And
they begged
Him,
saying,
Send us
into
the
pigs,
so that
we may enter
into
them.
13
And
He allowed
them. And
the
unclean
spirits
having gone out,
entered
into
the
pigs, and
the
herd
about
two thousand
rushed
down
the
steep bank
into
the
sea, and
they were drowned
in
the
sea.
14
And those
feeding
them
fled
and
proclaimed
it
to the
city
and to the
country.
And
they went out
to see
what
it is that
has been done.
15
And
they come
to
Jesus
and
see
the
man
possessed by demons
sitting,
clothed
and sound mindedthe
one
having had
the legionand
they were afraid.
16
And
those
having seen
it
related
to them
how
it happened
to the
one
being possessed by demons,
and
concerning
the
pigs.
17
And they began
to implore
Him
to depart
from their
region.
18
And He
having entered
into
the
boat,
the
one
having been possessed by demons
was begging
Him that he might be
with
Him.
19
And
He
did
not permit
him, but
He says
to him, Go to
your
home, to
your
own, and
preach
to them
how much
the
Lord
did
for you and
had mercy on
you.
20
And
he departed
and began
to proclaim
in
the
Decapolis
how much
Jesus
had done for him; and
all
were marveling.
21
And
Jesus
having passed over
again
in the
boat
to
the other side,
a great
crowd
was gathered
to
Him, and
He was
beside the
sea.
22
And
one
of the
synagogue rulers
comes,
named
Jairus, and
having seen
Him,
falls
at His feet,
23
and
he begs
Him
much,
saying
, My
little daughter
is holding
at the end,
that
having come,
You would lay
the
hands
on her, so
that
she might be cured,
and she shall live.
24
And
He departed
with him. And
a great
crowd
was following
Him and
pressing in on
Him.
25
And
a woman,
being
with
a flux
of blood
twelve
years,
26
and
having suffered
much
under
many
physicians
and
having spent
everything
of
hers, and
having benefited
in no way,
but
rather
to the
worse
having come,
27
having heard
concerning
Jesus,
having come up
in
the
crowd
behind, she touched His
clothing.
28
For
she was saying
, If I shall touch
even
His
garments,
I will be healed.
29
And immediately her
flow
of
blood
was dried up,
and
she knew
in the
body
that
she was healed
from the
affliction.
30
And immediately Jesus,
having known
in
Himself
the
power
having gone forth out of Him,
having turned
in
the crowd, said, Who touched My garments?
31
And His
disciples
were saying
to Him, You see the
crowd
pressing in on
You, and
You say,
Who touched Me?
32
And
He was looking around
to see
the
one
having done
this.
33
And the
woman,
having been frightened and
trembling,
knowing
what
had been done
to her,
came
and
fell down before
Him, and told Him the
whole
truth.
34
And He said to her, Daughter, your
faith
has healed
you;
go
in
peace
and be
sound
from your affliction.
35
While
yet
He is speaking,
they come
from the ruler of the synagogues
house
,
saying,
Your
daughter
is dead;
why
do you trouble
the
Teacher
still?
36
But Jesus,
having heard
the word spoken,
says
to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not
fear;
only
believe.
37
And
He did not allow
anyone
to follow
with Him, except Peter, and James, and
John
the
brother
of James.
38
And
they come
to the
house
of the
ruler of the synagogue,
and He beholds
a commotion,
and
much
weeping
and
wailing.
39
And
having entered,
He says
to them, Why
do you make a commotion
and
weep?
The
child
is not
dead,
but sleeps.
40
And
they were laughing at
Him. And He,
having put all outside
,
takes with
Him
the
father
and
the
mother
of
the
child
, and those with Him, and
enters in
where
the
child
was.
41
And
having taken
the
hand
of the
child,
He says
to her, Talitha, koum!
which
is
translated,
Little girl,
I say
to you, ar
is
e!
42
And immediately the
girl
arose
and
began walking,
for she was
twelve
of years.
And immediately
they were overcome
with great amazement
.
43
And
He instructed
them
strictly
that
no one
should know
this;
and He commanded
to be given
to her to eat.
