Of Latin origin; a sudarium (sweat-cloth), i.e. Towel (for wiping the perspiration from the face, or binding the face of a corpse) -- handkerchief, napkin.
KJV: And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
NASB: "Another came, saying, 'Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief;
KJV: And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
NASB: The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
KJV: And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
