A primitive root; to lie (i.e. Deceive), literally or figuratively -- fail, (be found a, make a) liar, lie, lying, be in vain.
KJV: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
NASB: "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
KJV: And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
NASB: Then he said, "At this season next year you will embrace a son." And she said, "No, my lord, O man of God, do not lie to your maidservant."
KJV: Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
NASB: "Now please look at me, And see if I lie to your face.
KJV: And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
NASB: "Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar, And make my speech worthless?"
