Apparently a primary verb; to set on fire, i.e. Kindle or (by implication) consume -- burn, light.
KJV: Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
NASB: nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
