For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

"For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath."

Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

When they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement.
