Exodus Chapter 4 Part 1 Are you an honest person?

Exodus Chapter 4 Part 1 Are you an honest person?

Why do we need to study the Bible? Because God has given us the Word of God to reveal Himself to us. We discuss this fact in this podcast for pewsitters. God is outside space and time. How can we, a created being for God's purposes, understand a God, Who can create the universe by speaking it into existence? Through the Bible. WOW think about that! Isn't that truth exciting? Let's ask more questions.

Are we experiencing revelation in your bible study? Several questions we must ask ourselves.

  1. Are you an honest person?
  2. Do we see a progression in our life toward God's will? This question matters because of what the Lord said in Matthew 7:21-24 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' 24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
  3. And what will it cost you to study the Bible?
  4. And are you willing to be "just" a servant of God?

If you are not in God's word, you can trick yourself into believing what you are doing or changing in your life is according to what God wants, but maybe our motives and maybe what WE desire vs. what God desires. Is this the way God wants us to approach the Bible? No.

We will see several progressions of Moses that we can apply to our life:

  1. Prayer progression. Moses is growing in his relationship with God in communication
  2. Revelation progression. Moses is growing in revelation to the will of God
  3. Relationship progression. Moses is getting to know Who God is
  4. Obedience progression is tied to listening and acting on God's word
  5. Walking with the Lord means He is walking through life with us. And many things will come into your life that you have no control over, and we need to look at these and pay attention.

Thus, honesty to God, to ourselves and others, is paramount in our life. Psalm 32 discusses deceit in the context of sin. Blessed are those whose sin is covered!

We are made in the image of God. We reflect His righteousness out to the world. But where do we get His righteousness? From Him, and the Bible. How do we line up with the plans and purposes of God?

Do you ask questions of God from the Bible, or do you question God? Big difference.

When we line up with God's plans and purposes such as Moses in Exodus 4, we will have revelation from God. So how soon do you want to do this, and what will it cost you?

Exodus Chapter 1 Part 3: Facing fear...the kind that could end your life. When things look the darkest, God is in control. Exploring the sufferings of the Hebrews.

We are still in Chapter 1 and reading about some very brave Hebrew midwives who were told by Pharaoh to kill the Hebrew children. They disobey Pharaoh. WHOA, drama and tension heat up the story! They are called to provide an explanation to Pharaoh! Have you ever faced a fear that could end your life? The midwives did. But they chose the fear of the Lord over the fear of Pharaoh. They let God handle the outcome. At Biblestudycompany.com we feel it is easy to understand the fear of the Lord. It is not a cowering fear; it is the “fear to offend Him”. In this case, the midwives were protecting God’s Children from a wicked man. When things look the darkest, God is in control and we can learn either to complain, blame or turn and worship God for His future outcome. We want to live a praiseworthy life, so we respond by choosing the fear of the Lord and worship Him with thanksgiving in the midst of our fears and trials. We are also exploring the sufferings of the Hebrews and how they got into slavery.

We finish Exodus Chapter 1 with Pharaoh brutalizing the Hebrews. In addition, we are starting to look at several tools in our approach to scripture. A tool we love to use is immersion. Simply stated, we are immersing ourselves in the lives of the Hebrews. They will react like we would if we were threatened, for example. We are no longer viewing some of the Bible as stories for children, but as real people in extraordinary situations for our instruction. By taking this approach the Bible now comes alive with richness, drama, and depth. Join us and tell us what you think in the blog or on Facebook.

Notice another interesting phenomenon. There were many silent years in the bible and then prophecy is being fulfilled by an amazing series of events converging to an outcome. This outcome was the destruction of Egypt (Genesis 15:13-15) and another was Christ coming.
