Or slayv {sel-awv'}; by orthographical variation from shalah through the idea of sluggishness; the quail collectively (as slow in flight from its weight) -- quails.
KJV: And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.
NASB: So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.
KJV: And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
