Of Latin derivation; festal; Phestus (i.e. Festus), a Roman -- Festus.
KJV: But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
NASB: But after two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and wishing to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul imprisoned.
KJV: Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
NASB: Festus then, having arrived in the province, three days later went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
KJV: But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
NASB: Festus then answered that Paul was being kept in custody at Caesarea and that he himself was about to leave shortly.
KJV: But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
NASB: But Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me on these charges?"
KJV: Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
NASB: Then when Festus had conferred with his council, he answered, "You have appealed to Caesar, to Caesar you shall go."
