A primitive root; to pitch over or reel; hence (transitively) to cast down or out -- carry away, (utterly) cast (down, forth, out), send out.
KJV: And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
NASB: Saul hurled the spear for he thought, "I will pin David to the wall." But David escaped from his presence twice.
KJV: And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
NASB: Then Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him down; so Jonathan knew that his father had decided to put David to death.
