A strengthened form of a simpler primary thano than'-o (which is used for it only in certain tenses); to die (literally or figuratively) -- be dead, die.
KJV: Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
NASB: "Get up, take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child's life are dead."
KJV: And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
