From a derivative of poros (a way, i.e. Means); furnishing (procuring), i.e. (by implication) money-getting (acquisition) -- gain.
KJV: Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
NASB: and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
KJV: But godliness with contentment is great gain.
NASB: But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
