From an unused root meaning to dominate; a ram (just old enough to butt) -- lamb, sheep.
KJV: Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
NASB: 'Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
KJV: Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
NASB: "Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old lambs each day, continuously.
KJV: The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:
NASB: "The one lamb you shall offer in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;
