Building on from yesterday - John 1:4 "In Him was life and this life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." I always read this as Jesus acting in the external world, but building from yesterday, I started considering how He acts in my internal being. Just praising God for sanctification and cleansing that starts on the inside. Light of His Word helps me see what He calls me to let go of and to put to death within me, and now I also have a clearer picture why. That darkness seems like decay in the way of trying to overcome the Light. Just makes me happy and grateful to put it to death. He shows us what's decaying us spiritually. The darkness we hold on to is like an infection. His healings mean more to me, and what He means that He is the Great Physician. I see a bit more how sin and corruption cause death spiritually, and how happy we should be to submit to God's Word to let Him destroy it. It really does heal us. God is destroying all sin. The only choice we have is to thank Him for it and submit in gratitude and wisdom to be healed, or to resist Him and be destroyed along with it. Death wasn't God's idea. It's just decay resulting from denying His place in our lives as the source of life. It's purely consequence, but in His mercy and power we can be healed just by inviting Him and wanting Him. Spiritual life is fascinating to think about. Just a clearer picture of what's happening spiritually in us through submission to His Word I think. It's as simple as He says, but it always takes me a long time to really even begin to comprehend it. We should be seeking Him spiritually the way the ones physically sick sought Him out and begged Him to just pay attention to them when He was on earth. Glad to know what we need to destroy within our own hearts and minds and to have Him Who can do it. The amazing thing is, He is waiting for us to ask. That's how gracious He is. That's really the entire point of this life I think. It's just time God gives you to ask Him for help. Anyway, found a clear picture of an aspect of salvation we can have for this life.
