The Blessings of Matthew 5 found in the book of Revelation.

·WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30...

The Blessings of Matthew 5 found in the book of Revelation.

·WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 2016

Tonight I was reading Matthew 5, the beatitudes (spiritual benefits or blessings), and… Actually, I started with Matthew 7:14, where it speaks of the gate to the city in the Kingdom. You remember, “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to (eternal) life, and there are few who find it. This verse applies to the Overcomers we are told of in the last book. These are the ones that will receive everything the believer’s been told they’ll receive in the hereafter. But as we just read, few will find it. The “wide road” leads to “the least in the Kingdom”, still saved...but “suffered loss” (did not receive their reward - 1 Corinthians 3:15).

Anyway, this got me thinking… I wondered just how much, if not all, of this sermon was directed straight to the Overcomer. So I backed up to the beginning of the red ink and found Yeshua’s words started in chapter 5. At some point I might provide commentary on the whole sermon - connecting the more often overlooked dots. But for this note…I’m going to stay on task and just offer corresponding verses found in Revelation. I was fascinated, and I hope you are too!

Our Mathew 5 text will be bold, and are from The Scriptures. Unless noted, the Revelation verses are in NASB.

1 But when He saw the crowds, He went up on a mountain. And when He was seated His taught ones came to Him.

Revelation 7:9 “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude (crowd of taught ones) which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;”

2 And having opened His mouth, He was teaching them, saying,

Revelation 19:15 “From His mouth comes a sharp sword (the Word, His teachings), so that with it He may strike down the nations (covenant breakers), and He will crule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the reign of the heavens.

Revelation 5:10 “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”

BTW - “Poor in spirit” is an idiom meaning repentant.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, because they shall be comforted.

Revelation 21:4 “…and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

5 “Blessed are the meek, because they shall inherit the earth.

Revelation 21:7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they shall be filled.

Revelation 7:16 “They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat;

7 “Blessed are the compassionate, because they shall obtain compassion.

Revelation 22:21 “The grace (blessing and favor) of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) be with all the saints (God’s holy people, those set apart for God, to be, as it were, exclusively His). Amen (so let it be)! -The Amplified Bible

8 “Blessed are the clean in heart, because they shall see Elohim.

Revelation 21:27 “and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they shall be called sons of Elohim.

Revelation 21:7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.”

10 “Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness’ sake, because theirs is the reign of the heavens.

Revelation 7:14 “I replied, Sir, you know. And he said to me, these are they who have come out of the great tribulation (persecution), and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” - The Amplified Bible.

11 “Blessed are you when they reproach and persecute you, and falsely say every wicked word against you, for My sake.

Revelation 2:9 ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy (wicked words) by those who say they are Jews (leaders, teachers, taught ones) and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan”.

Mathew 5:11 - Blessed are you when they reproach and persecute you https://www.facebook.com/notes/don-barber/mathew-511-blessed-are-you-when-they-reproach-and-persecute-you/1153024901374563

12 “Rejoice and be glad, because your reward in the heavens is great. For in this way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.”

Indeed, He is coming quickly. People get ready!

I woke up this morning to the terrible news of 50 dead in Las Vegas. My heart and prayers go out to the families of all involved. My reading today was Psalm 37 and it was very comforting 🙏 Our God is bigger than all the evil in this world! Resting in God's love, faithfulness and provisions today❤️

When the people answer in one voice it says to me they are acting as a group not as an individual relationship with God. We can easily get caught up in going with the group instead of seeking God and asking his help individually. God can lead, reveal, heal and give us power to follow. People and Groups can only give us their perspective. Dependence on God or dependence on  religion and the church or man.  Moses depended on God. The Israelites depended on Moses not God.
