Podcast For Pewsitters presents the "treadmill of NEVER ENOUGH". Does this title make you tired already? The demands of the world don't change once our eyes are opened to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, they may just get WORSE! Why? Because when we realize that we are serving God Himself, then a greater weight is now upon us. But is this added weight from Christ or us? Isaiah 30:15 says: 15 For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength. But you were not willing..."
What if we are a performance-based person? Running on the treadmill of life to make sure we are "something" in the world and hopefully leave a name for ourselves? Add God into this mix and we are on the treadmill of NEVER ENOUGH.
Are we so busy with serving that we don't have time for anyone including our King and obedience to His Word? Have you ever thought: "Well, my family can wait because I am serving God?" Is this approach to sacrifice our families for church biblical when God wants us to serve our families? Add our natural desire to compare ourselves to other people, and the religious treadmill begins and now we have a recipe for NEVER ENOUGH soup! Here is hope: Matthew 11:28-29 28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." See that? Come to Me. Is that our recipe?
Get off! Get off the treadmill of never enough! Let's put our full dependence and trust in Him. He "has" this life. And how would we do life anyway in our own strength, EVEN serving in the church? What if trusting and waiting on God meant to depend on Him? Jesus's mission was to serve and do the Will of His Father in Heaven. What if our "ministry" is only to Him and then He brings ministry to us? Let's focus on Him and learn to worship Christ, obey Him for Who and what He has done for us. This podcast will lift your heart.
